Its main role is to distribute national and European financial resources to the local community. The Park has been involved in numerous projects the last years strengthening the managerial skills of its members along with advancing their technological and research capacities.
The institute cooperates with academic institutes, environmental and cultural organisations within Greece, numerous E.U. countries, Russia, Israel, Egypt, Turkey, and China. The intention of strengthening the co-operation of Universities, technological and research organisations with the local enterprises and the public sector is an effective strategy to contribute to an all-inclusive qualitative development of the area. Within the same perspective, it organizes national and international evetns and meetings promoting research synergies as well as valorizing the geocultural resources of the area.
The institute currently runs more than 10 scientific programs in cooperation with academic/ research institutes, local/ regional authorities and bodies of the public/ private sector. Most of the projects are either bilateral or under European initiatives e.g. INTERREG (MEDOCC –GRINMED, ARCHIMED – BYHERINET & MANWATER, III C – CAVESNETWORK), ESF-COST (Actions C22, 634 & A27), Leonardo Da Vinci (Mobility and Pilot Projects), Bilateral Agreements (Tunisian, Turkish, Cyprian and Icelandic).
